Moroccan Spiced Meatballs
A simple meatball recipe made with a North African blend of spices and fresh mint
Ingredients
- 1lb. Ground beef
- 1lb. Ground lamb or pork
- 1/2 Tspn. ground cumin
- 1/2 Tspn. ground coriander
- 1/2 Tspn. ground turmeric
- 1/2 Tspn. garlic powder
- 1 Tspn. onion powder
- 1 Tspn. salt
- Black pepper
- 2 TBspn. chopped fresh mint
- 1 egg
- 1/3 cup plain breadcrumbs
Method
- Combine all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Use your hands to make sure that all of the ingredients are mixed together really well.
- Using your thumb, index, middle, and ring fingers to grab an approximate portion, roll the ground meat mixture into small balls about 1.5–2 inches in diameter and place on a large baking sheet covered in parchment paper. You should end up with about 25–30 meatballs by the time you are done rolling.
- Put the meatballs in the oven and cook for 20–25 minutes at 375°. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
I like to make some couscous to go with these meatballs. They are also great with some basic tomato sauce.
