Apple Crumble
A super super easy recipe for a quick desert. Works well, with peaches, pears, anything really.
Ingredients
- 4-5 cooking apples (like granny smith)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 Teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup quick cook oats
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Zest and juice of 1/2 a lemon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter
Method
- For the filling, peel and slice the apples (or peaches, or whatever) into wedges. Mix the sliced fruit with the granulated sugar, cinnamon, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
- For the crumble topping, put the flour, oats, baking powder, salt, brown sugar, and butter into a bowl.
- Stir together breaking up the butter until all the pieces of butter are about the size of a pea.
- Put the filling into a 8x8, or 9x13 baking dish—whatever you have that works. Pour the topping over the filling and spread evenly.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes at 375 until the topping firms up and the juice from the fruit starts to bubble through.
